We had the official celebration for Kade's little birthday on Friday. He, being one, could have cared less about anything going on that evening except for the fact that he had a
whole cake in front of him--all to himself, and the additional fact that there were three little girls trying to steal all of his new toys. In fact, one of the evening's highlights was when Grandma Wendy opened up Kade's new airplane toy and all four children in attendance (all under the age of three) pounced upon the airplane toy...slightly reminiscent of a toddler-sized mosh pit. Of course, those types of things can only end in tears...but it was good fun for the adults before we all had to console our children. Being that this has been one of the longest summers of my life....and I'm still exhausted from all that has gone on...I went against my own personal standard and ordered out Chinese food for dinner for the party! I'm such a slacker, but I have to say...it was pretty nice to not be slaving in the kitchen all day! Sorry family! I still love you all....just not enough to cook for you ;) Kade had a great time devouring his little bug cake, however his favorite part was the sucker-antenna off the caterpillar cake. Remind me, again,
why we do this for one year old children who don't remember any of it? I think part of it is to cure our guilt complexes as parents...but there has to be another way, right? Oh well! After all is said and done, Kade'll have the pics to prove his mother loves him. Thanks fam for the support! I know I'm crazy, but ya'll are great sports!

Here's a quick

'
before' and '
after' with Kaders and his cake.

So cute! So sorry that Saturday didn't work out - as much as I needed to get out, my body was begging for rest. Of course, we still had to do stupid errands during the day but we (I) did retreat to bed early. Yes! Anyway, Kade looks adorable and his party sounds like it was a hit - no surprise there! Love you guys and hope to see you soon. (If we don't, Kade's present may be acquired by two little monkeys at my house!)
