We are finally reaching the end of our summertime
"Birthdaypalooza!" Each year, I look so forward to summer, the parties, celebrations,

etc. However, by the time August rolls around, it begins to feel like that is
all we really accomplished all summer. But hey, we threw some pretty great parties and had some wonderful celebrations. Chalk it all up to some great fun and fantastic memories! Whew..we made it!
We had a great time celebrating both Don & Dad's

birthdays this week. We went out to the "fire restaurant" and then took the kids to play miniature golf for the first time. They thought it was the greatest, ever!!! Sydnie has talked about it every day since! By the looks of it, Don might have a couple of regular golf buddies before he knows it! ;) They actually had the patience and presence to let Don help them "t

ee off" from the appropriate place a few times before they figured out how much fun it was to just run down and putt the ball into the h

ole...or float it down the river, or stuff it into any hole or crevice they could find. Both kids were great and really did try to "scoot" their balls into the holes with their tiny little putters. It was pretty entertaining to watch. The best part was just watching them laugh and run from hole to hole and find a small little sense of satisfaction in figuring out each hole. Pretty priceless! We returned home to celebrate with cake (that's supposed to be a golf ball on top in case you're wondering--ya, it's definitely not the
'jungle safari' cake) and found ourselves still laughing about the evening.
As we put the family birthday chronicles to rest until next year, I really do have to express some gratitude that it's over for a season. I have been using birthday cake as my diet excuse for two months now, and it's time to get back on track! Until next summer!...

Alicia, you are soooo creative! Among MANY other things....your cakes thoroughly amaze me!
I want to be just like you when I grow up.
Love the golf ball cake
Happy Birthday Don! One year older and wiser too...well, maybe just older! We need to go out and celebrate. Hope it was great day!
