The Greatest Show on Earth!?!

The day had finally come....Sydnie had been dreaming of the circus for two months (ever since the tickets were purchased) and both kids were overcome with anticipation. Neither of them had any idea what a "circus" really was, but they knew there were elephants and tigers involved...and that was enough for them!

As we entered the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus in Salt Lake, Kade's eyes were wild with amazement! There were flashing lights, cotton candy, music, kids and plastic animals everywhere! Certainly too much for a two year old to be expected to handle ;) Sydnie, already experienced in these types of large scale events since her trip to the Princess Show last Spring, knew automatically to ask Dad for a sno-cone--the rainbow one--and life was good. It didn't hurt that it came in a giant elephant and provided an entire evening's worth of sticky fingers and a wet lap. Add that to the dogs that did tricks and her "very favorite real elephants" and I think we had her convinced that this had to be the Greatest Show Ever!

Kade also was a big fan of the elephants, but was pretty mesmerized by those motorcycle tricks! He did look up every once in a while from his bucket of popcorn to enjoy the rest of the show, but I think the popcorn and Red Vines topped off the night for Kaders, too! As for me, I was pretty amazed, honestly. There was an unexpected abundance of people spinning, diving, driving, riding, running, falling, throwing, showing and singing. Add to all of that a lot of spandex and some dramatic pyrotechnics and it was definitely more of a show than I ever remembered as a child! We had an amazing night at the circus--however--the "greatest show" proved to be the thrill and giddy laugh that came from each of our cute kids as they watched in wonder. Thanks, RBB&B! It was a great night under the "Big Top!" And thanks to Nana and Grandpa for sharing it with us!
