My hostess with the mostesst!....

Sydnie has recently taken up party planning...

She will go into my dining room, which is always full of decorations, armed with a basket of some kind. She will gather decorations, random food items from the kitchen counter (loaf of bread, etc.) napkins and whatever other party "essential" she happens upon and place them in her basket. She then makes "invitations" to the party and hands them out to all of us and makes sure we understand that the party is happening and when--it is usually in honor of someone's birthday, or the closest holiday. She will go in her room, or choose the dining room table, and start "decorating" by laying out all of her goodies she has collected from around the house. She lays out a place for everyone and then disappears to her play kitchen to grab the plastic food creations she has decided to serve us. She insists we all sit down together and indulge in her party perfection. We spend a few minutes devouring plastic food and commenting on her decorations before she gets us up and shoos us out so she can clean up. Is it a little eerie when you start to see small pieces of yourself emerging in a four year old?

She also loves to "host" her friends when they come over to play. We have a play room and family room area in our basement that the kids love to spend time in. I will go down to check on the kids and Syd will have gone into the food storage room and gotten juice boxes and bags of snacks for everyone. Bless her...she just doesn't want anyone leaving hungry. I'm afraid that one is in the genes. ;)

Now, I just need to take the subliminal training one step further and see if she can just plan and host her own birthday party this summer! Yeah...I wish! My sweet little mini-me! I sure love her!

So impressed, Syd! Alicia - You have passed on the gift of being the perfect hostess. And if Syd carries that tradition on...many others will be blessed, amazed and inspired at the cretivity and "over-the-top" (but so necessary) ways to throw a real party! Parabens!

That is Syd. She has always been good at making everyone feel welcome. She is definitely her mothers daughter, in personality and looks, style, kindness, etc etc.
