Angels Among Us....

We all ask that question about newborns...."what are they really looking at when they look off into the corner of the room and get 'that look' on their face?" Is it the light from the window? Are they experiencing a small moment or remembrance of that brilliant, heavenly world they just came from? Are there guardian angels hovering ever so close to help remind them that they are never alone? I often sit and watch Chase as he gazes off in that peaceful daze and wonder what he must be remembering or seeing. I even find myself wishing I could share in just a moment of that peace...

A week or two after I had returned home from the hospital I was running through the house juggling life and there was a ring at the door. I open it to find these two sweet men, Ken Dunn and Mert Harward. They are blessed neighbors and friends who sadly both lost their wives this last year. I was overwhelmed with surprise to see them sitting on my doorstep with huge grins on their faces and a little gift bag and card in hand. They said they had come to "check on me" and "meet the new youngster." They came in to visit and spent their time making sure I was feeling better and holding Chase. They both sat and marveled at every little detail....his tiny toes and feet, his little nose, his perfect little fingers. They are such dear, sweet men. As they left, I found myself so touched by their visit. I have to admit that an incredible peace and reassurance came over me. Perhaps one that was comparable to the contentment of my baby boy....there truly are angels that hover around us and remind us that we are loved and that life really is so sweet. They live next door, they are members of our family, they are dear friends, they are sweet angel babies...we are so blessed and grateful to all of these sweet angels who are among us. For some, they may be in corners of rooms or corners of our minds as memories...for others, they come as gifts of grace. Regardless, even when we are least expecting it, we are reminded of their goodness and our priviledge.

Wow! You have been on a blogging roll. Fun to catch up, we should really try and do it in person. :) Such a touching post and loved the one month post for Chase. Your kids look like they are having a great summer...water + sun + swimsuits = pure delight!

How cute is that! Seeing the old and young together really makes me appreciate life and each of its stages.
