Sydnie the 'Spider Sitter' (and Snowy Sitter, too!)

Sydnie has been taking summer preschool at BYU during the last month or so. She has loved every minute of it, and I have been enjoying the chance for her to learn new things and keep her active little mind engaged while she is preparing to enter kindergarten this fall. From the first moment she walked into her classroom--we knew she was in the right place as she quickly noticed there was a class bunny (Snowy), a class tarantula (Webby) and an aquarium full of fish. Life only became sweeter as the teacher announced that we could sign up and take turns watching the bunny
and the spider over the weekend during the summer. I quickly realized this was a golden opportunity. Sydnie has been begging for months to get "another pet." Since we have our beloved Ginger, I feel in no way inclined to be getting any type of second pet for our household. One is plenty for us. However, this gave us the chance to "borrow" a pet for the weekend and hopefully get it out of Sydnie's system. Consequently, Sydnie spent two weekends during the summer as a "spider sitter" and a "Snowy sitter." As any of you who know Syd can guess, she was in love with her temporary pets! She and Kade would get chairs and sit in front of their cages and watch them. She would get up every morning to give Snowy his food and water and would sit and talk to him. She really was so good, and so responsible with them. She really just loves animals! Their favorite part was when we put Snowy on a leash so she could take him for a walk and then let him hop through the back yard while Syd and Kade chased him. My favorite part was that I could offer her the experience, and then load those pets right up on Monday morning and return them! [Maybe that is how grandparents feel in a way ;)]
