So, today's blog was going to be all about Sydnie's first trip to the "big girl" hair salon to get her first "big girl" haircut! Her hair has grown SO LONG, and aside from my "make-shift Mommy" bang trims...we've never cut it! I finally decided that, since its down to her little bum, it was time to brave the new experience! We made the appointment and spent the whole week talking about how much fun it was going to be! We dressed in a cute outfit with her favorite shoes this morning and packed a whole bag full of favorite toys, treats and books. Off we went! Unfortunately, the hysterical fit began as we drove up to the salon, and only turned into mayhem and massacre inside as our poor hair stylist (and a desperate and humiliated mommy) talked, pleaded.....and then restrained an out of control three year old long enough to get a chunk out of the back, and then "trim" a.k.a. "whack" off her bangs. Needless to say, to avoid further damage (to both us, and Syd's hair), we tipped our hair stylist generously and obviously gave up! My daughter is now sporting a very stylish "half-do." For those of you who know my daughter, your response to this might be, "what were you even thinking trying to attempt that with Syd?" Especially after hearing the stories of her two-year old doctor appointment/immunizations that left her and I (eight months prego) covered in blood and in hysterical tears. Well, as a mom, you have to keep the hope, right? That little touch of optimism that keeps you going as you pray that one day you'll wake up and those precious angels of yours will have outgrown the "terrible twos," decided on their own they want to be potty trained, or can finally face new experiences without drama? Yes, there is much I need to still learn in this adventure called parenting. For today, it will be wiping away my exasperated mommy tears and putting ribbons in my daughter's 'half-do,' because, even though she drives me beyond insanity some days...I love that little girl! She is such a choice spirit, and I know she will one day conquer the world with that incredible drive and passion! (Watch out world!)
*For the record, we have made a unanimous decision to continue the 'homemade h
P.S. Also supposed to be attached to this blog were a really cute "before and after" picture....I'm afraid, there will only be a "before" shot for today...

Hilarious story! I can totally picture it and have to admit that I am glad it was you and not me! Maybe you could show her a picture of a shaved head and offer her two options: a)the shaved head or b)a trip to the salon. Yeah right! Who are we kidding!?! When Syd is ready, she will call the salon herself and book the appointment - whether that be tomorrow or in ten years! Hang in there. Re-read the "Invisible Woman", cry, and then remind yourself that we really do love those "reds"! Love you. When are we getting together?
